Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy (this “Policy”) describes how MyBloodlines, LLC (“Company”, “us”, “our”, and “we”) collects, uses, shares, and protects information in connection with the website located at mybloodlines.com and the related services we provide (collectively, the “Site”). This Policy applies to information we process about visitors to the Site and registered account holders.
By accessing or using the Site, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Policy. If you do not agree with this Policy, please do not access or use the Site. Capitalized terms not defined in this Policy have the meaning given to them in our Terms of Use.
1.INFORMATION WE COLLECT
1.1 Information You Provide. We collect information that you provide directly to us, including when you create an account, build or edit your bloodline graph, contact support, or otherwise communicate with us. This includes: (a) account information, such as your name, email address, and date of birth; (b) profile information, such as a profile photo you choose to upload; (c) content you submit, including persons, relationships, stories, photos, and other materials you add to a graph (“User Content”); and (d) communications, such as the subject and message of any support request you send to us.
1.2 Information Collected Automatically. When you use the Site, we and our service providers automatically collect certain technical information, including your IP address, browser type, device identifiers, operating system, referring pages, and information about how you interact with the Site. We collect this information using cookies and similar technologies as described in Section 4.
1.3 Information From Third Parties. If you choose to sign in using a third-party identity provider such as Google, we receive limited information from that provider, which may include your name, email address, and profile photo, in accordance with that provider’s policies and your privacy settings. We do not receive or store your third-party account password.
2.HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION
We use the information we collect to: (a) provide, operate, maintain, and improve the Site; (b) create and manage your account and authenticate you, including by sending one-time codes and magic sign-in links to your email address; (c) store, display, and organize your bloodline graph and User Content and enforce the access boundaries that govern who may view or contribute to it; (d) process subscriptions and payments through our third-party payment processor; (e) respond to your support requests and communicate with you about the Site; (f) detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, security incidents, and other harmful or unlawful activity; and (g) comply with our legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Use.
3.HOW WE SHARE YOUR INFORMATION
3.1 With Other Users. The Site is collaborative by design. Information in a bloodline graph, including persons, relationships, stories, and photos, may be visible to other users in accordance with the permission boundaries, claims, grants, and cross-graph connections that you and other contributors establish. You are responsible for understanding these access controls before adding User Content.
3.2 Service Providers. We share information with third-party vendors who perform services on our behalf, such as cloud hosting and storage, email delivery, analytics, and payment processing. These providers are authorized to use your information only as necessary to provide services to us.
3.3 Payment Processing. Subscriptions and payments are handled by our third-party payment processor. We do not collect or store your full payment card details; that information is provided directly to, and processed by, the payment processor under its own privacy policy.
3.4 Legal and Safety. We may disclose information if we believe in good faith that doing so is necessary to comply with applicable law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request; to enforce our Terms of Use; or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Company, our users, or the public.
3.5 Business Transfers. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of all or a portion of our assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to the commitments made in this Policy.
3.6 With Your Consent. We may share your information for any other purpose disclosed to you at the time we collect the information or with your consent.
4.COOKIES AND TRACKING TECHNOLOGIES
We use cookies and similar technologies to operate and secure the Site. In particular, we use a secure, httpOnly session cookie to keep you signed in, and we store limited information in your browser’s local storage to remember your preferences, such as your selected theme. You can configure your browser to refuse cookies or to alert you when cookies are being sent; however, some parts of the Site may not function properly without them.
5.DATA RETENTION
We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you the Site, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When you delete your account, we will delete or de-identify your personal information within a commercially reasonable period, except where retention is required or permitted by law. Because a bloodline graph is collaborative, certain User Content you contributed may remain part of the shared graph after your account is closed.
6.YOUR RIGHTS AND CHOICES
6.1 Access and Update. You can access and update your account information, including your name and date of birth, and manage your profile and User Content through the Site.
6.2 Account Deletion. You may request deletion of your account at any time. Deleting your account may involve removal of User Content associated with your account from our live systems, subject to Section 5.
6.3 Communications. We send certain administrative and transactional messages, such as sign-in codes and support replies, that are necessary to operate the Site and that you cannot opt out of while you maintain an account.
6.4 Regional Rights. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under applicable law, such as the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any such rights, contact us using the details in Section 11.
7.SECURITY
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee the absolute security of your information. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials and your email account secure, since access to your email may allow sign-in to the Site.
8.CHILDREN’S PRIVACY
The Site is not directed to children under the age of 18, and you must be at least 18 years old to create an account. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 18. Account holders may, however, add information about other individuals, including minors, as persons within a bloodline graph; you are responsible for ensuring you have any necessary rights or permissions to do so. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information in violation of this Policy, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
9.INTERNATIONAL USERS
We are based in the United States, and we process and store information in the United States and other countries. If you access the Site from outside the United States, you understand that your information may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in a country whose data protection laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction.
10.CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
We may update this Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by posting the updated Policy on the Site and updating the “Last Revised” date above, and, where appropriate, by other means such as email. Your continued use of the Site after the updated Policy becomes effective constitutes your acceptance of the changes.
